Reportable 1.1.0

Highlight is now a gem
Highlight, my syntax highlighting lib is now available as a gem. Simply install it with:

Highlight 1.1.1 is out
Just now, I released Highlight 1.1.1. The only change in this release is that I removed the creation of temporary files and simply pipe the code to be highlighted to the pygmentize command now. This means you don’t have to clean up the temporary files anymore (or if you never clean them up anyway they won’t get more and more after you upgrade ;). Everything else remains unchanged.

Rails is not just Ruby
At yesterdays meeting of the Munich Ruby User Group, I held a talk on JavaScript and its use in Rails applications: Rails is not just Ruby (also see the Demo Project on github).
The talk’s first half is a general statement to take JavaScript development as serious as backend Ruby development is taken while the second half introduces three different approaches on how to deal with JavaScript in Rails applications: the classic solution, full separation and the use of explicit JavaScript controls.
